Last weekend my brother and I headed east to the coastal city of Savannah. We had been planning this trip for a while because we both wanted a little vacation in the middle of the summer work and activities.

We made reservations at Skidaway Island State Park. The sites were large and well-kept. We brought our bikes along which was needed because it was so hot. The weather was in the upper 90's with humidity so we often hopped on our bikes to catch the breeze.

The park had a lot of walking and biking paths which was awesome. I think we did just about every path that we could. The trails were flat and easy to follow.

^^This guy kept trying to steal our food. He crept around the whole time we were there. He might look cute, but he was devious. We caught him several times on our neighbor's coolers. He wasn't strong enough to open it though.^^
On Saturday, we decided to go over to Tybee Island to spend some time on the beach along with the rest of Georgia. It's funny how people step off the boardwalk the dump all their stuff in the spot right next to it. There were so many people in the area by the pier. We walked a little bit further up and it was much less crowded and a little more enjoyable.

The water was the perfect temperature. Refreshing. Not too cold or hot. It was welcome after a hot morning at the campground.

We walked along for a while and observed/joined a crowd on the pier around a young boy that was attempting to pull in a stingray. He'd been trying to pull it in for 45 minutes before we'd arrived. We watched him for about 30 minutes and then left because we wanted to enjoy other things before our parking time was up.

We spent a little time swimming and relaxing before heading back to the campsite.
Sunday, we packed up and headed into Savannah. We wanted to explore a bit of downtown. We used a walking tour guide which was great because it showed us some of the hidden and historical spots.
This house above was one of the points on the tour. It is the oldest house in GA. It was the first gardener in GA's house. Below is the spot where the original garden was. Someone is keeping it up now.
We stopped at this cafe along the riverfront for lunch. We got hungry right in front of this place so we looked at the menu outside the door. While we were waiting in line to be seated, I looked it up on TripAdvisor just to make sure it was good. They had four stars and positive reviews. The food was good. It was quiet and the servers were friendly.
It was a nice weekend to get away for a bit and enjoy this beautiful city.
