My Story

I've always loved taking photos. For my 12th birthday, I received my first camera - a film point-and-shoot. That started my love for photography. I have always had a connection to the camera as a tool. It is powerful way to communicate especially in our ever-increasing visual world.

I attended my first week-long photography course when I was a junior in highschool and I had just purchased my first DSLR - the Nikon D40. During that course, I learned how to take my camera settings off automatic and began shooting manually. I set everything. Doing that helped me learn the settings and how to expose for different types of lighting (still learning, but this gave me a good foundation).

I attended the second week of that course the following year and then took another course on photojournalism. I loved it. I loved the way I connected with photojournalism as a photography style. It is a unique way to capture human situations/circumstances.

I then ventured off the charted map that people generally follow (graduating high school then attending college...) and made the ocean my address and home for two years. This was a unique, life-impacting, experience through which I had the opportunity to photograph a vast amount of people and places.

Since returning home, I spent a year and half continuing my hobby with the hope of one day building it into a business. I'm currently in school studying Visual Art and am continuing to follow this dream.
