Last Tuesday I changed my flight to an earlier time because I would have the fourth off. When I first made my vacation plans, I didn't realize this so I'd booked leaving for the beginning of the next week.
I wanted the chance to visit a few days my family's camp. (It's a private family camp.) I hadn't been there in two summers so I didn't want to miss this chance.
I was right behind the exit rows so I was pretty close to the wing and I was in a window seat.
This flight was probably the smoothest flight I've been on - airport time included. Travelling on a holiday can speed the process up! There was no one at the checkpoint and I went straight in to the line. Somehow I ended up in a special TSA line and didn't have to take off my shoes or belt or take out the liquids from my bag. I was surprised.
So was the guy ahead of me. He asked, "I don't have to take off my shoes?? I've never been to an airport where I didn't have to take off my shoes!"
The plane departed not only on time but also was scheduled to get in about 40 minutes early. The time in the air was a pretty smooth ride all the way into NYC even though there was some light rain and clouds on the descent leftover from Hurricane Arthur.
One of the nicest parts was as we were coming in to land and we were still above the clouds. The sky and clouds were a shining white.
As I was looking down, in the distance a plane - that looked very tiny - shot through the clouds heading straight to my right. It was moving so fast and the white plane against the white clouds was so pretty. One of the benefits of flying is seeing unique and different views of the earth like this.
My mom picked me up and we made a quick grocery stop and at Jamba Juice.
It was nice to get into camp for dinner and a walk to the beach. It's such a pretty and peaceful place.
The Fourth of July events were postponed until Saturday because of the weather.
